In the top ten of the german magazine specialized in via ferrata, this path is very impressive and the only one which climbs in a canyon hidden from the eyes of other tourists.

Always cool and fresh even in summer this via ferrata is short but not easy, suitable for all adults, teenagers and children of at least 9 years old.

Opened in 2017 and completed in 2019 with the new upper section, this via ferrata is exposed, vertical, very well equipped and safe but quite challenging and not suitable for those who suffer from vertigo. Situated within a valley, it is always cool even in midsummer. There are several vertical sections with simple suspension bridges that cross the waterfall and give the feeling of being able to touch the water cascading powerfully to the valley.

Unique of its type, the Ballino via ferrata deserves to be climbed at least once in a lifetime.

In order to reach the start of the ferrata you walk along a beautiful path for about 30 minutes. The whole ferrata takes about 2 hours and the return 45 minutes.

We start the route from Biacesa, the first town in the Val di Ledro, and after an hour walk we start the via ferrata. Cooled by the Ora wind from Garda, this route is pleasantly fresh even in summer. It is a circular route and once we arrive at Cima Capi we return to Biacesa on the via ferrata Foletti and hiking. Length: around 10 km – ascent 500 meters

Because of its length this ferrata is classified as medium difficulty and does require a good of physical fitness. The extraordinary views of Garda, the Val di Ledro and the Sarca valley more are worth all the effort.

Though easy, this fixed rope route is worth climbing even just for the views and for some passageways dug into the rock or on suspended staircases.

The fixed steel wire is located in only a few places; to cross it you walk and climb belayed by my rope. It is very beautiful and famous, for sure one of the most panoramic and exciting routes but does require experience in via ferrata or rock climbing. It is not suitable to children or anybody who suffers from vertigo or has a fear of heights.

The “Scaloni di Ceniga” route is partially furnished with iron handrails although there is no actual climbing involved. The walk is graded as easy and is very scenic. I would highly recommend it as a first experience of a via ferrata giving you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the equipment needed to tackle more challenging routes. Length: around 7 km – ascent 500 meters.

We can also walk only the first part of the route if you would prefer a shorter excursion, or are accompanied by small children. We can simply climb and return by the “Scaloni di Ceniga” without completing the whole circuit.
